PCS member and intrepid explorer, Jesper Schou has this to say about his show at the August 2018 PCS meeting on 14th Aug 18:

A trip to the South Pole

Tired of slideshows with people struggling up steep mountains? Then this is the show for you! Here you will see how it is to fly and stay at the South Pole, which despite being at 9300', is among the flattest places on Earth. Late in November a colleague of mine asked if I could come ASAP and help him with a telescope there. So I went. Apart from slides showing how to get there, what the place looks like and the telescope, I will show a movie or two from the local film festival. And not to disappoint you all, pictures from climbing Observation Hill.
