Ice axe & crampon practice, plus Mt Warren & Lee Vining Pk (car camp)
Tioga Pass area. Open to all skill levels. Saturday: ice axe & crampon training & practice in a controlled environment on the Dana Glacier, which is a couple miles cross country from Tioga Pass. Previous ice axe & crampon experience is not required, but if you're new to these tools, you should do some reading first. "Freedom of the Hills" is the mountaineering bible. Sunday: climb nearby Mt Warren (12327', class 2) and Lee Vining Pk (11691', class 2), which should have outstanding views down to Mono Lake. Maybe we'll get lucky and see some bighorn sheep. These peaks are not technical, but may involve some bushwhacking.
Mt Disappointment
This is a technical trip requiring a high level of skill.
To avoid holiday traffic we'll leave the Bay Area on Wednesday, and hopefully celebrate July 4 on the summit of Disappointment Peak. Experience with ice ax, crampons, rope, and loose rock required for this strenuous class 4 couloir climb. We will drive home Saturday, or possibly climb Middle Palisade. Permit for 5.
Wind Rivers
More than just a dash up Titcomb Basin to bag the state highpoint of Gannett, we'll hike a loop over Knapsack Pass and climb a mixed bag of peaks with an eye toward variety and views (not just the highest ones around). The scenery should be great and greatly varied. Most of the backpacking will be on trail and the gain with full packs will be moderate. Some peaks will be rock, some snow, probably some with steep ice sections. Rope, tools, recent climbing resume, and confidence required. Leaders will be driving from San Francisco, Participants from other areas welcome. See http://www.climber.org/trips/#706.

Clarence King, Gardiner, Cotter, & Fin Dome
This is a technical trip requiring a high level of skill.
To avoid holiday traffic we will leave the Bay Area on Thursday. After a long, strenuous backpack to camp, we will have 2 fairly difficult climbs each day, with short belayed climbing on Clarence King and possibly on Gardiner. If interested please be in very good shape with confidence on class 3 & 4 and with some roped climbing experience.

Evolution Loop - Darwin, Mendel
Enter and exit via Lamarck Col; it's not really a loop. We'll try to see as much as possible of Evolution Basin as possible. The routes on the Basin side of these peaks are snow free. If time allows, we can try scrambling up other peaks.
Rodgers, Foerster, Electra
This trip is to climb these three class 2 / 3 peaks on the "back side" of the Ritter Banner massif. We will begin Aug 29th (Friday) at the Agnews meadows trailhead with the goal of hiking in over the 2nd class pass between Banner and Grey. The hanging valley behind Ritter and Banner is one of least visited in the Sierra and very beautiful. Much of the trip will be cross country over old mining trails, with route finding difficulties and long days. Milage will be 12-14 per day including elevation loss or gain of 3000'. Participants should be comfortable in these situations.
